The ocean starts with us in our homes, in our streets, in our cities.<\/p>\n

With a community of 600 people and 70 initiatives, The Trash Traveler and Fantastic Team collected 1,1 million cigarette butts within 2 months along the Portuguese coast. Cigarette butts are the most littered plastic item around the world and are filled with plenty of toxins. 1,1 million butts equals 2,5 hours of littering in Portugal. It\u2019s not about cleaning.<\/p>\n

What will happen with the collected butts? Circular solutions are key to reducing the trash mountain and therefore, the cigarette butts will be recycled with mushrooms and the end product may be used to build a tiny house for further awareness events. Until then, the butts will travel through schools, universities, festivals and other events in order to help increase awareness as much as possible.<\/p>\n
